Can the Heat Cause Plumbing Issues?

At Aloha Plumbing, we want to assure that we help every single one of our customers. This includes explaining exactly what we are doing and fixing, and also trying to shed some light on plumbing tips and tricks the average Joe may not be aware of.

So, the question of the summer: Can the heat cause plumbing issues?

The simple answer, yes. But, exactly how does the heat effect your plumbing?

There are three main effects the heat has on your plumbing:

1. Increase in Clogged Drains

The more you are outside and entertaining, your pipes are being used more frequently than usual. Plumbers are usually called in the summer due to a clogged toilet after a pool party, game night, or barbecue. Clogged garbage disposals are also a common call that plumbers receive in the summer time, due to the excessive amount of foods getting washed down the drain.

2. Frequent Leaks

The use of sprinklers, pools, hot tubs, and garden hoses puts a lot of stress on your pipes. Because of this, leaks become more common in the hotter months. If you find a leak or need a leak located, Aloha Plumbing is always here to help.

3. Structural Damage

The heat beaming down on exposed piping is often the reason behind damaged or cracked pipes. UV rays break down the pipes and result in cracks that can lead to leaks

If you find any of these issues emerging as the heat increases, call your local plumber immediately. Putting off issues that may seem minor can lead to major problems if not handled in a timely manor.

Keep cool, and keep your plumber on deck!
